My Own Power in Motala

We went to Motala with the purpose of visiting the NGO K-ringen. The got a project funded by the Swedish Inheritance fund, the project is called “My Own Power” (Egen Kraft). We had met people from the project during our visit in Hallsberg with the Coral reef. So we decided to pay a visit.

Once upon a time the big old house where they have their workplace was one of the earlier supermarkets in Sweden. Now it’s a workplace for cultural activities. They have a gallery, dance- and theatre studio, a work shop and a artist area.

We met the leaders John Loxbo, Arash Adibizadeh Lanjani
and Gunilla Haga. The told us about the project and how they work with cultural as a method to help people back into society. Many of those who participated have either started study or found other kinds of occupations.

John and Gunilla showed us around. John is also a glass artist. He taught us more about the art of working with glas. His assistant Josefin helped us when it was time for us to try our talents in working with glass.

Det var roligt att utbyta tankar och erfarenheter. Vi hoppas att Egen Kraft hittar en väg fram inför framtiden och våra tips kan vara till hjälp.

It was a interesting day with us exchanging thoughts and experience. We hope that My Own Power will find their path for the future and that our advices may help them.

The visit was made possible through our projects The Conference guide and Culture BUREAUcrats, funded by the Swedish Inheritance fund.
